2016 Christmas Foodies Festival EICC
Christmas Foodies Festival
I’m a huge food lover (who isn’t?) so when Foodies Festival got in touch and asked if I wanted to attend their Christmas show this year, how could I say no? Earlier in the year, which looking back has flown by so quickly, I attended the summer festival. Held on Inverleith Park in Edinburgh, although with bases all over the UK as the show travelled. It was a beautiful summers day and we enjoyed frozen cocktails on the grass whilst enjoying delicious gourmet foodie treats all around us.
Fast forward to November and Foodies Festival was back. This time the Edinburgh show moved inside (for the better!) to the EICC. Although it had a totally different atmosphere to the tents from the summers festival, it was still over an impressive three two levels. I took along a friend for the day to enjoy the festive feeling!
What We Got Up To
Being treated to champagne to start the day in the VIP room, we moved onto deciding what shows and workshops to attend for the day. These were all ticketed, but included in the entry price paid. With quite the sweet tooth between us, anything sweet immediately caught our fancy! Our first point of call was a festive cupcake cake decorating masterclass. We both enjoyed making our festive creations, with a Christmas tree for me and a holly wreath for Emma.
Market Stalls & Vintage Tea Room
Next up we took a look around the market stalls on the lower level. With a couple of things catching our fancy for the likes of Christmas presents for fellow foodies. Sampling our way through delights such as cremes brûlées, marshmallows, various spices and Christmas crackers, to independent whisky distilleries. In the cake and bake theatre, we caught up with the alternative Christmas cake show with Charlotte White. We ended the day with a cup of tea and some cake in the vintage tea rooms, quite literally full to our boots! Have you been to a Foodies Festival near you in the UK this year?
Foodies Festival provided two complimentary tickets for two to enjoy the day at the festival. All thoughts and photographs are my own.
