A Luxury Stay in Castle Leslie Estate, Ireland

Reminiscing on that childhood desire to roam castle gardens and feel like a princess, it felt like a dream to be able to experience a real life fairytale castle. Upon our two close friends announcing their engagement back in 2015, they were set to marry in Castle Leslie in Ireland, and I couldn’t be more excited. It would become my first experience of visiting Ireland, so I could only dream of the lush greenery sweeping beautiful coastlines and castles. Needless to say, it didn’t disappoint.

After initially waking up to rain falling down all around us, the castle came alive in the beautiful sunshine just in time for the wedding. We wandered our way through the 1,000 acres of Irish countryside, amongst ancient woodlands and glittering lakes. Castle Leslie Estate is still in the same family hands since the 16th Century and is utterly encapsulated by it’s history.

The Castle Rooms

We stayed in Papa Jack’s room within the castle. Immediately you find yourself transported back to the 16th Century, wrapped up in the luxury of the traditional interiors. Settling in for the night with our giant bed, whilst relaxing in the copper bath overlooking the castle gardens outside.

Waking up to the sun streaming in through the windows, it was time for breakfast. An amazing spread of fresh fruit and pastries, with a hot menu also for anything you could imagine. Irish pancakes for me! Making the most of our last morning before leaving, we took some time to explore the grounds and enjoy the peace and quiet down by the lake. A wonderful way to unwind following the wedding celebrations the night before.

Where to Find Castle Leslie

Having the opportunity to stay in the castle for a friends wedding, you can also stay on the estate as a guest, in either the lodge or the guest house. It is still possible for you to explore the castle grounds and interiors when there isn’t a private function happening, so you won’t miss out. Not to mention the additional 1,000 acres belonging to the estate. Enjoy everything from a spa day to horse riding through the woodlands. Perfect for romantic getaways, weddings, and even family holidays.

You’ll find it just 80 minutes from Dublin, and 60 minutes from Belfast. Flying into Belfast from Edinburgh it only took us an hour and a half to drive to the estate. Over the years the castle and estate has been entirely restored to it’s former glory of it’s romantic fairytale settings. Castle Leslie Estate has the title of one of the finest luxury hotels in Ireland, and I can definitely see why!

Will you be heading to explore the beauty of Castle Leslie Estate any time soon?
