Edinburgh’s Old Town Chambers
A couple of weeks ago I was invited to enjoy a complimentary nights stay at Edinburgh’s Old Town Chambers. It coincided perfectly with my birthday weekend; and so, we were off on our mini staycation for the night. Prior to arriving, we were emailed our passcode for door entry. Which works for both the building entrance and the apartment, bespoke to each guest. No need to check in, no need to check out. It really is like arriving at your own home apartment, without any hassle or waiting.
You’ll find the Old Town Chambers just off the Royal Mile down Roxburgh’s Court. A tiny secret entrance which you might not otherwise know was there. Such is the charm of Edinburgh and it’s many little closes and court yards.
All of the apartments are five star serviced and each have their own unique charm. We were staying in an apartment overlooking the close. The front facing apartments give a fantastic view over Princes street and the city skyline. Each apartment is fitted out with the latest modern luxuries. Even down to the Nespresso maker. Beautifully blending modern aesthetics with traditional exteriors.
After a couple of moments trying to figure out how to make all the mod-cons work, we quickly settled into our luxury home for the night. Taking a look around behind all of the cleverly hidden storage doors, I was impressed to find that it even had a washer and dryer in the apartment. As well as it’s fully fitted kitchen. Each apartment also has it’s very own wifi, so you’re not sharing slow speeds with other guests. Even down to the bathroom, which was filled with wonderful Cowshed goodies for that added touch of luxury.
What We Thought
We stayed in a two double bedroom apartment, which would be ideal for small families or two couples. Flopping onto our huge king sized bed for the night, I wondered how loud it might be for it’s central location. I was pleasantly pleased to find that although it’s located off one of the most popular tourist areas in the city, it was utterly silent at night.
After a solid nights sleep we prepared breakfast, some pastries and a whirl of the Nespresso maker. Perhaps if you’re not as organised as I am, or you just want that extra bit of luxury – you can pre-order a breakfast box. Partnered with a city favourite, Valvona and Crolla, you can expect everything from pastries, wine, cheese, and a meat platter, delivered straight to your door.
Apartment prices start from £140 a night, but in my experience it is well worth the value. It’s everything you could need in a home away from home, and in a perfect city centre location in the heart of the Royal Mile. You can book here through Lateral City.
