Styling My Inner Teenage Self
When I was a teenager all I wore were Converse. In all kinds of colours and patterns, even customised, I couldn’t get enough. Perhaps it was something to do with the whole scene-kid phase at the time and my awful attempts at eyeliner. But they were the only shoes I’d even consider.
As I got older my love for trainers faded out, I became much more of a girly-girl. Pretty plimsoll flats and heeled boots moved into my wardrobe and that was that. I’m still all about the comfort life though. Sure, heels look incredible but in reality I spend more time falling over my own feet and prefer to stay close to the ground.
Giving In To Comfortable Shoe Wear
After years of inappropriate shoe wearing, something had to give. Does this mean I’m finally an adult? That I’d chosen the comfortable life? Not to be read as comfort over style, because when I noticed that Converse had come back into my life with full force, I was hooked. They released their ‘holiday nudes’ collection and my inner 15-year-old self screamed out, you need these.
With lots of deliberation over did I actually need them or was I just pulled in by their pretty colour palette (note – both!) they had to be mine. I decided I needed to be sensible. Something that I knew would be comfy and get me from A-Z without leaving me desperate to kick them off at the end of the day.
How I’m Styling Them
For a casual-chic weekend vibe (isn’t that always the dream?) this is something I wore for running some errands, and generally enjoying the weekend. I’m wearing my Converse with some easy wear jeans from Monki, bodysuit from New Look and floral scarf from Primark. Pulled together with my go to faux leather jacket.
What’s your favourite way to style the trainer trend? Will you give in to the comfortable footwear life?
