Trend Setting Abroad
Whilst I was on my travels over summer in both Hong Kong and Tokyo, I couldn’t help but notice an emerging trend. Layering a basic tee and a camisole top was a big trend there. Upon returning back in the UK I started to see the same thing appearing on the high street. After loving the trend in Asia, I decided to give it a go at styling it myself.
A 90s Trend Camisole Revival
The layered spaghetti straps camisole and tee trend seems a bit of a blast from the past. It’s a trend revival I’m welcoming. Even if it does bring back not-so-cool memories of the early 90s; where my mum would make me layer up strappy tops with a sleeve tee-shirt on holidays. In a desperate bid to stop my shoulders from burning. This was a definite mum thing right? Somehow I feel I probably looked less Cher from Clueless and more just…clueless!
What I’m Wearing
Now whilst I might not be getting burnt on a winter’s day in Scotland, the layers do add a nice touch of extra warmth under all those layers. With autumn well and truly in full swing, I bought this deep berry inspired oxblood camisole with lace insert from New Look. Perfect for layering with my cropped sleeve black tube jumper, also from New Look. I’ve accessorised with a chunky statement chevron necklace from Primark, and gold toe boots from New Look. I wanted to keep things simple so paired my layered tops with a black faux leather and lace pencil skirt from New Look, and perfectly matching faux suede berry biker jacket from Matalan.
What do you think of the layered camisole and tee trend? Is it something you’ll be styling this season?
