Casual Shirt Styling
With yet another striped casual shirt to add to my collection, I keep promising myself I’ll stop one day. However I have been on the look out for a nice tailored shirt that I could both dress up for something more formal at work, or dress down for a cool casual shirt inspired look. So when I spotted this shirt in New Look over the weekend, with the AW16 collection now starting to appear, I knew it had to be mine. The stripes aren’t totally over the top, and I liked that the length and shaping of the shirt made it feel more feminine.
I dressed this shirt up for a day’s work with some statement accessories, my necklace from George at ASDA, rose gold watch from Olivia Burton, earrings from New Look and a flash of red lipstick from Bobbi Brown. Finishing off the look with some pointed flats, also from New Look, and wet look faux leather leggings from Boohoo.
The Pyjama Top Trend
One of the trends I’ve been seeing around a lot recently is the pyjama top trend. Now I’d love nothing more to feel like I’m working in my pyjamas all day, but there’s a fine line between looking like you are actually in your pyjamas versus just rocking a trend. This style of shirt seemed to offer the best of both for that; the comfort of a pyjama shirt with a subtle nod to the trend, and fitted feminine tailoring to give it just a little bit more edge. Dress it up with some statement jewellery and heels for a night out, or opt for a more casual look with ballet flats and some comfortable jeans.
