The Pinafore Trend
I love pinafore dresses. They remind me of being in Rainbows as part of Girl Guides as a little girl, where we had bright red pinafores with our badges sewn on. They were great, and super comfortable. So when pinafores became a trend once again, I was so game. Indeed not wanting to once again look like my five year old Rainbows self, styling the pinafore needed to become a little more sophisticated. In line with the pinafore trend I invested in this versatile black piece from New Look, with a playsuit inspired cut. Paired with my floral snood from Miss Selfridge, blouse from Primark, pointed flats also from New Look, and my backpack, as you might have seen styled on my blog previously (here) is from Radley*.
Things to do in Linlithgow
This is something I styled for a casual weekend explore out to Linlithgow just outside of Edinburgh’s city centre. It’s not somewhere we had been before and it’s quite small, but there’s a few nice things you can do there.
It was a relatively nice day so we decided to take a walk around the loch and ground surrounding Linlithgow Palace. The Palace is now in ruins but it’s interesting all the same, and you can either view it from the outside whilst exploring the grounds, or pay a small fee to go inside as part of the National Trust.
The high street is right by the palace too which has some lovely independent cafes, bakeries and boutique shops. We had a rummage around the charity shops then grabbed a wonderful lemon meringue pie from the local bakery before heading on our walk around the palace grounds.
If you’ve got time it’s also worth going slightly further out and enjoying an explore of Beecraigs country park, be sure to take a picnic on a sunny day as you watch the boats drift by on the water.
In other news I cannot believe we are now into August, this year is flying by at such crazy speeds. There’s loads of great events coming up here in Edinburgh I’ll be attending and sharing here. And of course, not to mention the Fringe Festival coming back into the city for almost it’s 70th year running! What nice things do you have planned for this month?
