This was one of those outfits that as soon as I had packed it before leaving to go on my travels, I knew I couldn’t wait to wear. I’ve always been a fan of the whole floaty feminine look, so when I came across this pleated skirt in H&M as part of their new 2016 summer range, I couldn’t resist. I can’t begin to describe how soft and silky it feels for starters, it was so cooling to wear in the 35C heat, and of course – super satisfying to twirl around in! Going a little H&M mad for this outfit, I paired it with a statement embroidered blouse, another purchase I bought in H&M, some scrappy glittery yet comfortable sandals from New Look, and my yellow clutch to pull it all together.
Here I am pictured in the Gyoen Gardens in Tokyo, a truly beautiful place which had such calm and peace away from the city lights and loudness, it was lovely just to escape for an afternoon and rest our feet for a while. I can’t wait to share more of our travels over the next few weeks – there’s just so much to tell! Things have been pretty busy since we got home and back to work, but it’s been nice writing up these posts and reflecting on our adventures.
Pleats have always been a favourite of mine, they’re so easy and versatile to style and instantly add a bit more femininity to an outfit. A far cry than the memories of school uniform skirts with pleats you so desperately hated because it meant it made things more difficult to role them up and therefore instantly become cool, pleats are back and I hope they stick around this time. What do you think of the pleated trend, how would you style them?
