Edinburgh Fashion Week 2016
Last weekend I was fortunate enough to attend the 2016 Edinburgh Fashion Week yet again, as it launched for it’s second year, following an impressive start a year ago. Showcasing the best of the city fashion from high-street to designer, and independent boutiques, it was a great way to see what Edinburgh had on offer. I was thankful to receive a blogger pass for this year’s events, which allowed us to access all of the shows, which was a huge bonus and really let us see the best of what was on offer.
Behind the scenes
We were offered catwalk shows in the fashion week tent on the mound, styling tips and panel discussions from industry professionals such as Satisfashion, getting an insight into 2016’s up and coming trends. This year even saw the first children’s fashion show featuring Gap fashion, and the cutest little catwalk models you ever did see! All whilst enjoying a glass (or three..) of bubbly in Anta’s VIP lounge, where we also got to chat to the Benefit make up girls who were on hand for advice and touch ups, providing all the make up for the models across the weekend.
What to see
Edinburgh Fashion Week lasted for the full week this year, with most of the catwalk shows over the weekend, offers were rolled out in stores across the rest of the week, including evening events and charity fundraising for breast cancer with The MoonWalk Scotland, raising more than £1400 on the night including donations from Lorraine Kelly and Judy Murray who designed a collection of bras.
With more than 11,500 people attending the event, it was a huge success for Edinburgh and is certainly starting to put the city on the map for fashion, I can’t wait to see what next year brings!
