Travel Plans for 2016: Hong Kong, Tokyo & Arizona

2016 TRAVEL PLANS

2016 Personal Travel Plans

Following on from my 2016 goals, I can quite happily announce that the first thing I’ve put into action is Β stop dreaming and start doing. For so long I’ve always wanted to get out there and see more of the world. Ever since I was young I’ve had the travel bug and have always dreamed of ticking off everywhere on the map I’ve always wanted to see. Ever since leaving university and building myself back financially, it’s finally reached a stage where I can afford to travel and do more things, so to compensate for some lost time, this year I’m planning on going to a whopping three different countries abroad, and I am soΒ excited! Read on below for my travel plans.

Hong Kong

First on the map is China. With friends living in Hong Kong, ever since they moved out there over a year ago I’ve always said that it would be amazing to go out there and visit them and have a truly unique experience staying with someone who really knows all the hidden gems in the city. The more I research Hong Kong the more I realise there are so many different elements to what is actually a fairly small place in the scheme of things when you consider how massive China is. From cityscapes to secluded beaches, I can’t wait to get out there and really see what it’s like.

Tokyo

Since we are flying all that way out to Hong Kong, I realised it was only a further four hours flight time across to Tokyo, in Japan. Going to Tokyo in my mind will be like nothing I have ever experienced before. The sheer size of the population, the business of the streets, and not to mention the level of technology is years ahead of anything we have in the UK. From the hustle and bustle of the worlds busiest street crossing, to the softness of the blossoms dropping all around the city, I can’t wait to really experience it all as part of our combined whirlwind trip between China and Japan.

Phoenix

Lastly, for Christmas this year I’m intending on spending it in America. My family live out in Phoenix, Arizona. I spent so many years across my childhood visiting there that it always feels like home. I haven’t been in over six years and I do really miss it, not to mention extended family and friends out there who have since even gotten married and had children! This will be the least hectic of all my trips as it’s more to spend time with family and enjoy a truly unique Christmas. I’m not making any specific travel plans whilst I’m there as it’s a time to relax and enjoy catching up with friends and family, but I would love to go back to the Grand Canyon once again and see it in the snow.

What are your travel plans this year? Do you have anything exciting coming up? I’d love to know! If you’ve ever been to Hong Kong or Tokyo I’d love to hear any of your tips on them, and please link me to your travel posts if you have!

Hong Kong & Tokyo would be an amazing experience. So much beauty and culture, and the food!

  • I juts got back from a work trip to Tokyo (see my latest blog post and also http://www.notquiteenough.co.uk/japan) and it's amazing. Very very different to anywhere I've been before, and very different to China. I'm jealous of your trips, they sound amazing!

  • Hong Kong and Tokyo are two places I really want to visit. I can't imagine what Tokyo will be like, just the idea that their technology is years ahead of ours is a little mind blowing! x

I absolutely adore Hong Kong, and that photo of the Buddha at Lantau at the top of your post reminds me how excited I was to be there – it was magical. I'm heading back there again for two weeks in April (as part of a three month trip around the world!) and I have a huge 'to-do and eat' list a friend has put together for me and I'm going to be blogging it all!
