Mademoiselle Macaron Delights
Last Friday I was invited along to Mademoiselle Macaron in Edinburgh to celebrate their first birthday of being open. It was the prettiest of shops inside, with everything pastel pink with the bright pops of colour from the rainbow macarons. Now I must admit, despite how pretty they are I had never actually tried a macaron up until this point. As I’m not a huge fan of almonds, but was pleasantly surprised to find that they don’t actually taste of it much at all! Does this make me a terrible cliche blogger?
We met the lovely Mademoiselle Macaron herself, Rachel Hanretty. She told us her stories about how she fell in love with macarons and trained in Paris at the Alain Ducasse cookery school, whilst studying French at university. Mademoiselle Macaron is it’s own little haven of Paris right here in Edinburgh. With the smell of sweet delights through the air, the shop itself is picture perfect. There are even some fun Scottish twists to the macarons, with one even tasting of Irn Bru! Mademoiselle Macaron also offers gluten free options on the menu.
Needless to say, everything tasted wonderful (even more so accompanied by prosecco!), and we even got to try savoury macarons, that makes eating my body weight in macarons ok right? It was lovely to be able to catch up and chat with some fellow Edinburgh blogging ladies and meet some new faces.
