Make Your Own Christmas Decorations

I’ve always been a big fan of more traditional Christmas decorations, ever since I was little I’ve been making craft things for around the house at Christmas, so when Hobbycraft got in touch with me the other week asking if I’d like to try out some of their Christmas craft kits, of course I said yes!

It was nice to sit down for a couple of hours on a lazy Sunday and make these cute little fellas, sometimes I think you can get so caught up in everything else that it’s hard to force yourself to sit down and relax, and not only were these really therapeutic to work on, but also rewarding to see the finished result.

The kits were fairly simple to figure out and gave you everything you could need apart from a sewing needle, I opted to try out these gingerbread decorations first which are absolutely adorable, I just love how they’ve turned out! I also made the owl doorstop on my sewing machine as a bit of cheat instead of by hand, but there was no way that was ever going to prop open my heavy flat doors so I turned him into a cheery soft toy for my little cousins. I’m yet to try my hand at the felting for the penguins, as sweet as they look, I got so caught up working on the others I completely lost track of time!

What do you think? Have you tried your hand at making some of your own decorations before?

  • These look so cute! I love the apron on Mrs. Gingerbread! I got some christmas-themed cross stitch patterns last year that I'm hoping to get started on this week πŸ™‚ xx
